Gschwantner created a series of 24 drawings showing the river landscape around the waterway intersection at Magdeburg. The Mittellandkanal crosses River Elbe via a gigantic bridge. Pictures taken from the site were transformed by computer into abstract shapes.
These shapes are used as samples for woven carpets made of PVC tubing filled with river water and glycerine.
